THE SHORT SECOND LIFE OF BREE TANNER
Read THE SHORT SECOND LIFE OF BREE TANNER by Stephenie Meyer last night. Not bad.
When I saw the book at the grocery store yesterday, I thought “What’s this? Is she changing the story? Did they add something to the movie, so she had to write another book to explain it?” The trailer for the movie, Eclipse, talks about Riley. Everyone was asking, “Who the heck is Riley?”
Everything is cool. She did not change the story. Riley is in Eclipse, and so is this mysterious, Bree. It’s just been so long since we’ve read Eclipse, that we don’t remember them by name.
I enjoyed reading about Bree, and I’m glad the author decided to put out this prospective of the story. This addition definitely added a whole new dimension to her tale.
My take on The Shack
I have recently read The Shack, a wonderfully written story about faith, fear, anger, joy and forgiveness. It was quite simply a study of humankind’s relationship with God. While some may question the book’s message regarding church attendance, and what God expects of us, I think the true message shines through. God loves his children. ALL of them. Each and every one. He loved us enough to give us free will, and his SON. God doesn’t love us because of who we are, HE loves us because of what HE IS.
Oftentimes, we get caught up in the ritual, and forget the true meaning behind our religious practices. The importance of Church isn’t about being seen, dressing up or entertainment. It’s value is the uniting of God’s people, the true church, to praise and give HIM thanks for the priceless gift of forgiveness and eternal life that is only attainable through Jesus, His son.
The Shack deals with many concepts, but is a stunning story in itself. Definitely worth reading, no matter what religion, or non-religion, you happen to be.
